Our Story

Grown With Care,
Close to Home

A family farm in North Carolina growing a handful of crops exceptionally well.

Our Story

SV Farms USA is a family-run farm in eastern North Carolina. We grow a focused set of crops we know well — sweet potatoes, ginger, turmeric, garlic, persimmons and guava — and we grow them with attention to the soil, the season and the people who eat them.

Our aim is simple: good food, stronger communities and brighter tomorrows. That means selling close to home, sharing what we learn, and treating the land as something we borrow rather than own.

We’re part of a small family of farms and community portals — including Sisira Farms in Plant City, Florida and the Direct Farms network — that share one idea: fresh from the field, real from the start.

How we grow

  • Crop rotation and cover crops to build living soil
  • Drip irrigation and mulching to conserve water
  • Minimal, targeted inputs — we scout before we spray
  • Hand harvesting for tender crops like ginger and turmeric

Our Values

What guides every decision on the farm.

🌱

Fresh & Seasonal

We harvest at the right time — not the convenient time — so flavor and nutrition arrive intact.

Local Community

Food grown here should feed people here. We sell direct and partner with neighboring farms.

Sustainable Mindset

Healthy soil, careful water use and long-term thinking over short-term yield.

A Year on the Farm

The rhythm of the seasons in our fields.

Winter · Jan – Mar

Garlic harvest and curing. Soil tests, cover-crop management and planning the season’s beds.

Spring · Apr – Jun

Ginger and turmeric go into the high tunnels. Sweet potato slips are set out once the soil warms.

Summer · Jul – Sep

Guava ripens; early turmeric and young ginger begin. Fields are weeded, irrigated and scouted weekly.

Fall · Oct – Dec

Sweet potato harvest and curing, persimmons at their peak, mature ginger and turmeric dug before frost.
